The official start of summer has passed, but if you ask Detroiters, summer officially starts on July 29 at the start of the Mo Pop Festival. The Mo Pop Music Festival kicks off summer in downtown Detroit with tons of incredible music guests, food, art, crafts, and more. Located along West Jefferson Avenue between Rosa Parks Boulevard and Joe Louis Arena, the West Riverfront Park sets the stage for the music festival of the summer. Tickets are still on sale for individual days, but if you truly want to experience the magic of Mo Pop, you need a weekend pass.
Getting to the Park
There are plenty of easy ways to get to West Riverfront Park! Most eager festivalgoers will sprint from their homes, but for the rest of us, there is the People Mover. For just $.75 you can take the People Mover to the Joe Louis Arena stop, then walk a short distance to the Mo Pop entrance. The People Mover runs from noon to 2 am, so concertgoers will be able to find a way home after the day’s lineup. The amazing staff at Detroit Bikes is offering free and safe parking for any guest who wants to bike to the festival. You can also park at West Riverfront Park for $25 per vehicle per day, but there is no overnight parking on that lot.
This year’s festival is jam-packed with chart toppers and homegrown local acts. The festival opens up on Saturday with dynamic artists: Run the Jewels, Foster The People, Phantogram, Amine, Michigander, and many more electric acts as the day continues. The festival doesn’t skip a beat and continues on Sunday with Alt-J, Tyler the Creator, Vance Joy, Solange, and so much more. You will enjoy the festival no matter what day you attend.
For more information on the different vendors, crafts, and venue specifics, browse Mo Pop’s FAQ page. For information on tickets and weekend passes, take a look at the festival’s ticket page. We can’t wait to see all of our Houzemates at the festival and #LiveTheHype at this year’s Mo Pop Music Festival.
